I love Febreeze. I quit smoking recently, and a lot of the world stinks. But the Febreeze commercials are like commercials for crack; images of people inhaling with fervor, the narrator describing the product as "a fix," portraying the user as on a binge.
It is all true though.
But if we can laugh at the marketing of household products using an addict's tongue-in-cheek idioms, then why the clamor when sex is used to sell the same quotidian things?
